HSV 162 - Introduction to Human Disabilities and Services 3 credits This course introduces students to careers opportunities and approaches related to working with people with disabilities. The instruction includes the history of disabilities in society as well as the diversity of the human development. A review of the traditional approaches to disability models, medical, and moral are introduced. The disability culture is examined of the independent living framework as well as the legislation that promotes the inclusion of all persons in society. The students will be introduced to specific disabilities. The course assists the student to learn more about themselves while developing their skills and knowledge in this program and service industry.
