Course Description:
In this course, students utilize an opportunity to expand their knowledge in their field of study while simultaneously serving the community. In order to complete an Honors Service Project, students must complete 30 hours of volunteer service at a not-for-profit organization, keep a journal of their experiences, and compose a reflection paper. This course is designed to integrate academic study and community service.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: SDV 230 - Introduction to Honors

Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives:
- Illustrate effective written communication skills.
- Model effective oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate their ability to analyze and synthesize a broad range of material.
- Analyze how scholars think about problems, formulate hypotheses, research those problems, and draw conclusions about them.
- Show the ability to use knowledge and logic when discussing an issue or an idea, while considering the consequences of their ideas, for themselves, for others, and for society, showing that they are independent and critical thinkers.
