Course Description:
Math Strategies is designed to help students learn or remember the skills necessary to understand and do well in college-level non-STEM courses. The main topics covered in this course are whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, proportions, and solving basic equations. This course will also help students gain mathematical literacy which will be of vital significance when making important life decisions. In addition, this course will help with any career that involves critical thinking, mathematics, decision making, or problem solving.

Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives:
 

  • Apply effective study and test taking strategies for success in math courses.
  • Calculate accurately (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) with integers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Apply the rules of equality to solve linear equations.
  • Solve word problems.
