AGV 162 - Animal Nursing II Last Date of Approval: 12/2024
3 Credits Total Lecture Hours: 30 Total Lab Hours: 30 Course Description: Covers foundation material in pre- and post-surgical care, surgical assisting, common comorbidities of surgical conditions, fluid therapy, dental prophylaxis, anesthesiology, clinical pharmacy and basic nursing skills. Clinic and hospital record keeping are covered with an introduction to practical radiology.
Prerequisites: AGV 161 Animal Nursing I Mode(s) of Instruction: Traditional/Face-to-Face

Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives:
- Teach students pre- and post-surgical care.
- Teach students dental prophylaxis and dental evaluations with the Triadan numbering system.
- Complete essential skills set by the AVMA CVTEA.
- Understand how to intervene with common medical comorbidities.
- Understand common surgical comorbidities and recognize associated clinical signs.
