3 Credits Total Lecture Hours: 30 Total Lab Hours: 30 Course Description: This course involves the study of pharmacology, application of anesthetic agents, the physiological effects and means of monitoring them, principles and administration of inhalant anesthetics, and a broad overview of anesthetic protocol and care. Emphasis will be on anesthetic practical skills and anesthesia equipment.

Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives:
- Teach students the mode of action of anesthetic agents used in veterinary practice.
- Teach students contraindications of certain medications and clinical findings.
- Teach students all aspects of anesthesia monitoring including equipment, safety proceedures, parameters, and abnormalities.
- Teach principles and administration of local anesthestics.
- Teach principles and administration of inhalant anesthetics.
- Teach anesthesia machine component identification and quality control.
