PLU 155 - Estimating for Plumbers 2 Credits Total Lecture Hours: 30 Course Description: This course covers techniques for estimating quantities of materials and cost of installation for various types of plumbing systems. Topics include design of systems, codes, material take-offs, pricing, and public relations. Upon completion, students should be able to order materials needed for installation from a designed system.
Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives:
- Identify sources and gather information relevant to estimating and costing plumbing services.
- Calculate materials, labor and time requirements to complete plumbing work using information sourced from the work site or provided drawings and specifications, including the use of proprietary estimating software.
- Identify safety requirements relevant to plumbing work, its effect on work methods, and cost of completing work.
- Cost plumbing projects considering materials, labor, overhead costs, contingencies, and required mark-up percentages.
- Develop documentation relating to estimating, costing, and presentation of tenders/quotation to the client.
