FLS 125 - Spanish for Health Professionals Course Department: Humanities 3 Credits Total Lecture Hours: 45 Total Lab Hours: 0 Total Clinical Hours: 0 Course Description: This course is intended for students who do not speak Spanish or whose knowledge of Spanish is rudimentary. This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to the Spanish language and culture in a working environment, with special focus on public health. The course focuses on building medical terminology scenarios, and communication strategies relevant to the public health industry. They will also learn how to effectively communicate with patients, and other professionals involved in the daily process in the public health field.
The course will include reading and listening to interactive presentations and practice of written working environment dialogues, to acquire the basic skills to communicate more effectively in Spanish at work. Cultural topics are presented throughout the term.
This class will help the student to be prepared for diverse workforce as well.
