ADI 550 - Advanced Obstetrical Ultrasound Course Department: Health Sciences 2 Credits Total Lecture Hours: 30 Course Description: This course is one semester and is designed for students who are pursuing a diagnostic medical sonography degree. It serves as an advanced course for obstetrics and medical sonography, covering fetal embryology through the entire pregnancy. The course will go over normal and abnormal anatomy, pathology for both maternal and fetal complications associated with pregnancy. This course will enhance their overall knowledge when making important life decisions.

Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives: Course Objectives:
- Identify anatomy, anatomic variants, and sonographic appearances of normal maternal, embryonic, and fetal anatomic structures during the first, second, and third trimesters
- Demonstrate knowledge of pathology, physiology, pathophysiology, sonographic technique, sonographic appearance, measurements, and Doppler patterns in obstetric abnormalities.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the role of the sonographer in performing interventional/invasive/advanced procedures.
- Evaluate scanning protocol and modification(s) based on the sonographic findings and the differential diagnoses.
- Second- and Third-trimester fetal and maternal structures
