ADI 328 - Gynecological Ultrasound Course Department: Health Sciences 1 Credits Total Lecture Hours: 15 Course Description: This course is one semester and is designed for students who are pursuing a diagnostic medical sonography degree. Students will learn physiology of female pelvic organs and an indepth study of female menstrual/ovarian cycle. Uterine and ovarian pathology and how the sonographic appearance of both normal and abnormal anatomy and pathology appear along with scanning techniques and patient preparation.

Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives: Course Objectives:
- Identify anatomy, anatomic variants, and sonographic appearances of normal structures of the female pelvis.
- Demonstrate knowledge of pathology, physiology, pathophysiology, sonographic technique, measurements, sonographic appearances, and Doppler patterns in gynecologic disease processes.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the role of the sonographer in performing interventional/invasive/advanced procedures.
- Evaluate scanning protocol and modification(s) based on the sonographic findings and the differential diagnoses.
- Demonstrate achievement of clinical competency through the performance of sonographic examinations of the non-gravid pelvis with both transabdominal and endocavity transducers, according to practice parameters established by national professional organizations and the protocol of the clinical affiliate.
