This course is designed to build a strong foundation covering the hair, hair care, and services performed in the salon. Career preparation course work includes thorough comprehensive classroom study, weekly labs, guest speakers and hands on campus visits at La’James International College. Students are introduced to the basic skills needed to be successful in retailing and prescribing professional products to clients.

Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives:
- Demonstrate the fundamentals of proper implements, equipment and supplies to describe and perform salon services meeting expectations of the industry.
- Evaluate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to present a salon ecology that is focused on the safety, protection, and infection control of the client, in accordance with all governing laws, standards and regulations.
- Demonstrate competency in the skills needed to acquire entry level unlicensed employment in Cosmetology.
