ADI 351 - Ultrasound Physics II

Course Description:
This course is continuation of Ultrasound Physics I and is designed for students who are pursuing a diagnostic medical sonography degree. It is designed to provide the student with fundamental information necessary critically think and apply the principles of the production and propagation of sound waves as it applies to diagnostic medical sonography imaging. Topics to be covered include production and propagation of sound waves to diagnostic medical sonography, hemodynamics of blood flow, harmonics, doppler, artifact, quality assurance, and bio-effects. The course will also cover instrument and image optimization such as resolution, transducers, instrumentation, real-time imaging, image storage and display. The course will aid in preparation for the registry exam and allow students to apply their knowledge in the clinical setting all while making important life decisions.
