Accounting Associate, APS


The accounting profession is seeking highly-motivated, dedicated and well-educated people. The field is especially attractive and fulfilling to those who have good problem-solving skills and enjoy working with people.

The Accounting Associate Program offers students the opportunity to enter the work force after completion and/or to further their education. Students’ progress through the sequence of courses their first year to obtain an Accounting Assistant Diploma. Upon successful completion of a second year of study, students will also earn an Associate of Professional Studies degree in the Accounting Associate Program.

Courses in the program are offered utilizing hands-on, active learning approaches. As part of the course curriculum, students will have the opportunity to pass and obtain up to ten certifications. The two-year program culminates with the Internship - on-the-job training in an accounting-related position with an area employer.

Iowa Central also offer a “Numbers at Night” program designed for, but not limited to, working adults. All accounting courses are offered in a face-to-face classroom or via virtual night delivery on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The remainder of the courses are available via online, virtual, or night delivery as well.

Software training will include the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel as well as QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50, Taxcut, and Payroll Integrated Software.
