In the animal science program you will focus on understanding the life cycle of companion and production animals through study of the fundamentals of behavior, growth and development, lactation, genetics and breeding, nutrition, reproduction, and management principles and techniques which will be practical to real life situations. Graduates of our program will be knowledgeable about sustainable animal production practices that also ensure animal health and well-being and stewardship of natural resources. Within the animal science program, students will gain a broad-based education in courses such as beef production, equine science, swine production, animal nutrition, animal health, forage crop management, livestock management, farm business management and more. In addition, students will receive practical experience with some of the largest agricultural businesses in the Midwest. Upon the completion of this Associate of Applied Sciences program, students may seek full-time employment in areas of livestock production and other animal science-based careers.
