This non-credit 90-hour Phlebotomy Technician certification program is designed to prepare students with the entry-level skills needed to work as a phlebotomist. This course combines online lectures and coursework with hands-on practice. Topics include basic medical terminology, anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, blood collection equipment, venous and capillary collection procedures, laboratory procedures, quality assurance, specimen handling, standard precautions, and infection control.
Course Comments: This is a hybrid class. Students will meet face to face one day a week. All other course work will be completed online each week. This class could lead an individual into a variety of healthcare programs on campus. Background check and vaccinations will be required prior to clinicals. Students must be 18 years of age at the time of enrollment. Individuals must also have a High School Diploma or Equivalency. After completion of the course, students will be able to take the National Healthcare Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Technician Exam to become certified.
