Industrial Mechanics Diploma

The Industrial Mechanics Program provides training essential for entry-level positions as a machine repairer, or building and plant maintenance technician. The program will provide basic skills in welding, fabrication, pneumatics & hydraulics, blueprint reading, lean manufacturing, and predictive and preventive maintenance. Students will utilize hands-on training to install, maintain and troubleshoot the equipment currently utilized by today’s industries. Upon completion of the program, the graduates will be awarded a Diploma in Industrial Mechanics. All courses taken will also satisfy some of the requirements for other Industrial Technology Associate Degree programs.

​Program Outcomes:

  1. Be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using appropriate technical language. Perform group problem solving, decision-making and conflict management activities to function effectively in society.
  2. Be able to correctly use the math and computer techniques and skills necessary for employment in Industrial Mechanics or a related field.
  3. Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge and practical skills necessary for employment in Industrial Mechanics or a related field.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply technical information from mechanical blueprints and manufacturing process drawings and concepts.
  5. Plan for, operate and devise safe maintenance operations per manufacturing process drawings and procedures.

Program Requirement: Must pass all core program courses with the prefix IND, MFG, ELE with a “C” or better for the semester prior to the one in which they are currently enrolling. Any exception will have to be approved in writing by the Program Coordinator or Division Dean.

Graduation Requirement: Must pass all core program courses with the prefix IND, MFG, ELE with a “C” or better.

Because of changes in technology, students taking programs over an extended period of time may be advised to retake courses to update skills and competencies.
