Paraeducator (non-credit)

The non-credit Paraeducator Certification Program is designed to expose students to potential careers within the paraeducator field. Students will learn the basics of the PBIS framework, learn crisis prevention techniques, de-escalation strategies and trauma sensitive practices. Students will earn their Mandatory reporter and Bloodborne pathogens credentials. This course fulfills the requirements to apply for the Paraeducator Certification through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.

Course Comments: Background check will need to be cleared by field experience location prior to first day. Students must be 18 years of age at the time of enrollment and hold a High School Diploma or Equivalency.

This can be an Integrated Educational Training class as well. With this structure, a navigator will be assigned to an individual to help support a student in the classroom with additional reading, math, ELL barriers, and workplace readiness skills.
