Veterinary Assistant Diploma

The Veterinary Assistant Diploma will prepare graduates for entry-level positions in the animal care field. The skills learned will prepare students to assist with basic animal care, feeding, and boarding. Experience with large and small animals is provided. Training includes office procedures and software applications. This diploma leads directly into the Veterinary Technical, AAS, Degree. Graduates of this program will work in small or large clinics, rural or urban, and bring experience with large and small animals to that occupation. Related careers include shelters, rescues, zoos, livestock production facilities, and local and state agencies. Program Outcomes” Demonstrate effective office and hospital procedures, client relations, and communication. Administer and dispense prescribed drugs safely and accurately. Handle common laboratory animals safely and effectively. Demonstrate safe and effective care for avian, exotic, and small animals. *Adopted from AVMA CVTEA

Graduation Requirement: Must pass all AGV, AGS, and WBL courses with a “C” or higher. All other courses must be completed with a “D” or higher.
