This comprehensive course prepares students for entry-level roles in medical billing and coding through virtual live instruction in the complete healthcare revenue cycle. Students will learn to verify insurance eligibility, accurately assign diagnostic and procedural codes, ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, and manage the billing and reimbursement process. Topics include HIPAA, fraud prevention, coding with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS, claim submission, and appeals procedures. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to support accurate coding, timely reimbursement, and smooth communication between healthcare providers, payers, and patients.
National Certification: This program meets the necessary requirements to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam.
Course Comments: Students must be 18 years of age at the time of enrollment. This class qualifies for GAP tuition assistance.
