The Radiologic Technology program is an intensive program which prepares students to become skilled professionals in performing imaging examinations and accompanying responsibilities. Iowa Central Community College partners with health care facilities across west and central Iowa to provide diverse and comprehensive clinical education experiences for Radiologic Technology students. The program provides the students with entry level skills consistent with career opportunities nationwide.
Program Mission Statement: The Radiologic Technology program is dedicated to providing quality radiologic technology education to produce qualified, competent entry-level diagnostic radiographers who are committed to life-long learning and high standards within the profession.
Program Requirements: Students must earn a grade of a “C” or better in all Radiologic Technology program of study courses and meet the necessary prerequisites to progress in the program. The student must complete the program with a grade point average of 2.0 or better. The student must complete all radiology specific courses within three years.
Student Responsibilities: Students receive clinical experience in a variety of clinical settings. Prior to the start of the program students must submit proof of successful completion of pre-requisite classes, listed below. Students’ clinical compliance, listed below, will be discussed at the program orientation and due prior to the start of classes. Transportation to the clinical site is the student’s responsibility. Uniforms and markers are purchased by the student and worn to clinical. Graduates of the program are academically eligible to take the exam administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Upon successful completion of this exam, they become a Registered Radiologic Technologist R.T. (R)
- Proof of successful completion of pre-requisite classes: Human Anatomy and Physiology I w/Lab (BIO-168 or its equivalent 4- credits), Medical Terminology (HSC-113, 2 credits) and an approved college level Math (3 credits) with a “C” or higher
- Completion of pre-entrance medical record (form provided) including documentation of all immunizations or vaccinations and uploaded and approved to TritonPass.
- Completion of an approved healthcare provider CPR course, uploaded and approved in TritonPass.
- Completion of required adult and child mandatory reporter training, bloodborne and HIPPA training and forms, and MRI screening sheet, uploaded and approved in TritonPass.
- Completion of criminal background check through Castle Branch.
The above information will be discussed and handed out to students who are accepted at the programs orientation.
Students with a felony or misdemeanor conviction must notify the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists prior to entering the program, to ensure they are eligible to take the Registry’s Examination.

Admission Requirements: This program is a selective, limited enrollment program. Students who would like to be considered for admission must complete an additional application packet. Students must also be enrolled in or have previously completed any pre-requisites of the program with a “C” or higher before they are considered for the program. Students must submit proof of their enrollment in/or completion prior to the application deadline.
The following criteria is required for applicants:
- A minimum of a high school diploma (GPA 2.5), equivalent GED (score of 550) or HiSET (score of 15).
- A college GPA of 2.0 if 8 credit hours or more of college level credit have been completed.
- A proctored ALEKS score of 20 or higher IF high school GPA is below a 2.0. *Proctored ALEKS scores are valid for 18 months* (If you have completed an approved college level math with a “C” or higher, this test is not required).
- An ACT reading and English score of 18 OR an equivalent Accuplacer score (If you have completed Composition I with a “C” or higher, these tests are not required.) *Scores are valid for 3 years*We are also currently accepting a High School GPA of 2.8 or higher in place of the Reading & English placement scores if you graduated in the past 10 years.
