This program prepares students for entry-level employment as maintenance technicians by building strong foundations in mechanical processes, precision measurement, shop operations, and blueprint reading. Students gain hands-on experience using industry-standard tools such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and height gauges to apply mathematical and measurement skills with accuracy.
Throughout the program, students learn to interpret and communicate using technical drawings and standard industry symbols used in machining and welding. Coursework emphasizes literacy in both metrology and print terminology, essential skills for anyone pursuing a technical career in maintenance.
In addition, students explore the operation and upkeep of industrial systems, developing troubleshooting, mechanical, and problem-solving skills. Laboratory exercises reinforce both technical ability and a positive, safety-minded approach to maintenance work. These skills not only prepare students for success on the job but also prove valuable in everyday life.
