ART 157 - Printmaking 3 credits This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of the printmaking process. Through the exploration of a variety of printmaking media, students will develop an understanding of traditional and contemporary techniques. Students will learn both to run editions and create one-of-a-kind, experimental prints. Emphasis will be placed on relief and intaglio processes, including (but not limited to) woodcuts, calligraphy, dry point, and etching. Students will develop visual problem solving skills as they explore the possibilities offered by the graphic arts. In addition, the course will examine printmakings role in historical and contemporary society.
