Course Description:
This is a corequisite course for MAT-111, which is designed to help students with the development of the study and math skills needed to be successful in MAT 111 - Math for Liberal Arts . In addition, this course will emphasize the appropriate use of technology and software, such as a scientific calculator and Excel.  This course will help students gain mathematical literacy which will be of vital significance when making important life decisions. In addition, this course will help with any career that involves mathematics, decision making, or problem solving.

Corequisites: MAT 111 - Math for Liberal Arts  
Prerequisites: Placement based on the mandatory placement chart.
Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives:
 

  • Develop and apply effective study and test taking strategies for success in Math for Liberal Arts. 
  • Translate phrases into mathematical expressions using appropriate variables and/or notations and solve.
  • Evaluate numerical expressions by hand and by using scientific calculator and/or Excel. 
  • Graph and solve linear equations that interpret real world applications.
  • Apply appropriate mathematical formulas to real world situations and evaluate.
