CHM 110 - Introduction to Chemistry 3 credits This course is a study of the basic principles of chemistry. Topics include measurements, atoms and molecules, stoichiometry, aqueous systems, gas laws, chemical reactions, equilibria, acids, bases, salts, and nuclear chemistry. A course such as this may be part of the requirements in certain health professions (nursing, dental and physical therapy), home economics, mortuary science, agriculture, forestry, and other related programs. This course will help students refine their critical thinking skills as they evaluate various topics and concepts while searching for underlying connections between the concepts, which is a skill that should be beneficial in any/all types of careers. This course will also help students gain scientific literacy which will be of vital significance when making important life decisions. This course is not equivalent to CHM-165 General Chemistry I. This course satisfies a general education requirement in the Math/Science area. Three hours lecture.
