AGS 319 - Animal Nutrition 3 credits Students will learn the function of organic and inorganic nutrients. Digestion, absorption, metabolism, and utilization of nutrients for maintenance and productive functions. Essential nutritive requirements of domestic livestock, physical properties, and storage and processing of feedstuffs. Nutrient requirements of and diet formulation, and preparation systems for animal species at varying stages of age, activity, or production. Manual and computer methodologies for diet formulation. Learning these concepts will allow students to make educated production and financial decisions which are critical when dealing with animal nutrition. This class would be beneficial to those in any/all types of agricultural careers, particularly those in animal science-based careers.
