EMS 769 - Paramedic 3 5 credits This course is designed to prepare the student for the Paramedic level as outlined by the 2009 National EMS Education Standards for the Paramedic. This course is a continuation of Paramedic 1 and 2. Head, ear, eye, nose, and throat disorders, endocrinology, immunology, gastroenterology, renal/urology, medical musculoskeletal disorders, cutaneous, toxicology, hematology, and infectious/communicable diseases, behavioral emergencies, gynecological emergencies, obstetrics, neonatology, pediatrics, geriatrics, and abuse/assault will be discussed. In addition, environmental emergencies, thoracic drainage systems, collagen vascular diseases, basic blood chemistries, central line monitoring and patients with agitated delirium will be discussed. Upon successful completion of this course, students will gain knowledge that will allow them to have a positive impact on the lives of their patients while providing emergent medical care within the communities that they serve.
