DHY 174 - Principles of Dental Hygiene 5 credits This course introduces the students to the basic principles and theory of clinical dental hygiene. The course will cover the etiology of deposits and their effect on oral tissue. The student’s skill and performance in removal of deposits through instrumentation is emphasized utilizing hands on instruction and demonstration. This course is only offered to students who are accepted into the dental hygiene program. This course will help students develop knowledge of clinical dental hygiene and instrumentation skills. Students will use these skills to critically think as they evaluate and treat dental hygiene patients. This knowledge will be beneficial to the career of dental hygiene.
Corequisites DHY 114 , DHY 163 , DHY 121
Prerequisites BIO 168 , BIO 173 , CHM 110 and CHM 111 , or CHM 112 , CHM 130 and CHM 131 , or CHM 132
