EMS 771 - Paramedic 4 7 credits This course is designed to prepare the student for the Paramedic level as outlined by the 2009 National EMS Education Standards for the Paramedic. This course is a continuation of Paramedic 1 - 3. Care of the patient with special challenges and chronic illnesses will be discussed. Students will learn how to effectively manage a multiple casualty incident, gain Haz-Mat awareness, how to transport their patient safely and effectively, how to operate at a crime scene, and gain rescue awareness. Trauma and assessment-based management will be discussed. Upon successful completion of this course, students will gain knowledge that will allow them to have a positive impact on the lives of their patients while providing emergent medical care within the communities that they serve.
